Information Society is an American synth-pop, freestyle, and dance-rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1982. Known as InSoc to fans, the group broke through with the 1988 platinum single "What's on Your Mind (Pure Energy)" from their self-titled major-label debut on Tommy Boy/Reprise, followed by hits "Walking Away" and "Think." They remain active with founding member Kurt Harland.
