Bob Dylan (born Robert Zimmerman, May 24, 1941, in Duluth, Minnesota, and raised in Hibbing) is one of the most influential songwriters of the 20th century. Emerging from the early-1960s Greenwich Village folk scene, he reshaped popular music across six decades with landmark albums including The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan (1963), Highway 61 Revisited (1965), Blonde on Blonde (1966), and Blood on the Tracks (1975). He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016 for "having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition."
